Krishna Bhandari: An Artiste.

A leading flautist of the country, Shri. Krishna Bhandari is a Senior Disciple of flute maestro and music composer Pt. Raghunath Seth, disciple of the legendary and unmatched flute maestro Pt. Pannalal Ghosh.

The probable unprecedented coincidence is but remarkable that he be named “KRISHNA" much before he even learned to hold the flute. It could also mean that it was an indication of his attachment to the Lord's instrument. At a very young age fascinated from the live concert of renowned flautist Pt. Devendra Murudeshwar, he took to playing flute.

Krishna was imbibed into the art, technique and aesthetics of flute playing by his father Shri. V. N. Bhandari. He then had the privilege of learning from the flautist Pt. Venkatesh Godkhindi and vocalists Pt. Appasaheb Deshpande (Nutan Gandharva) & Pt. Yeshwant Kshirsagar, before he came under the influence of the flute maestro Pt. Raghunath Seth and became his ganda-bandh disciple since 1990.

Krishna has a masters degree in Music – Sangeet Alankar and is a regular performing artist of AIR and Doordarshan . He is also an approved panel artist of ICCR. He is also training students to make them performing artists in Flute in a Gurukul Style.

Bhandari's style reflects a unique blend of fluency and melody with systematic "Badhat" and aesthetic approach giving due weightage to both "Gayaki" and "Gatkari". Use of key in his flute, invented by his guru Pt. Raghunath Seth unfolds 'Ragas' beautifully in Mandra Saptak upto 'Gandhar'.

During the college days he was placed first in the instrumental music competition in the year 1971 & awarded as best artist in flute and tabla in the year 1972

As a yuva kalakar from college his first radio performance was broadcasted from All India Radio Panjim Goa in the year 1972.

Won first prize both in flute and tabla in a state level competition organized by Swami Vivekanand Society Goa and received citation of Chief Minister in the year 1976.

His name is included in “SAMVAAD” directory of Indian Classical Musicians and Dancers published by Shri Mohan Nadkarni on 1st January 1997.

He has performed at several prestigious music festivals/concerts/conferences like Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan, ITC Research Academy, Sawai Gandharva Music Festival – Kundgol, Kala Bharati, Swaramayee Gurukul, Habitat World, Bamboo Magic, Khan saheb Alladia, Khan Sangeet Samaroh, Osho, Karnatak Rajyotsav, Dadar Matunga Cultural Festival, Gandharva Mahavidyalaya’s Shakuntala Festival and Vadya Vadan Mahotsav, World Cow Conference, Mandu Festival, Gaanvardhan, Germany and South American Countries, Australia and USA to name a few.

It is a testimony to his versatility that besides being accomplished flautist, he is holding a very senior managerial responsibility in a renowned Public Limited Company. Socially committed, he has been a Rotarian since 1989 and was the President of the club during 1992-93 & Assistance Governor during 2012-13.
